Obituary

Lee Melvin McGillivray, age 57, of Maple Grove, was born July 20, 1966, to Jack and Beatrice McGillivray (Haugen) in Robbinsdale, MN. He passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, after a brief hospital stay. Lee was an incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He was a master storyteller, a wonderful trait that he inherited from his father. His big heart and even bigger laugh filled any room he entered. He had
a heart for philanthropic work, supporting the BRAIV Foundation whose mission is to raise money to support research for persons diagnosed with brain cancer or United States military personnel who sustain traumatic brain injury as a result of service. In addition, Sarcio, Inc., a start-up organization dedicated to the research of possible stem cell transplant as an alternative for joint replacement was another missional organization near and dear to Lee's heart. Lee loved putting a smile on people's faces and he's surely made a grand entrance into his heavenly home where he was met with the open arms of his savior and that of his mother, Beatrice (Posy), who preceded him in death. He will be deeply missed by his father, Jack McGillivray, sister Dawn, (Dean) Sorenson, niece Kristin (Tony) Brown, their children Kora and Ivan, and niece Maddy (Spencer) Legred-Sorenson, and the many wonderful friends he met across the globe. A Celebration of Life service will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 S Fourth Avenue, Anoka, Minnesota on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 am, with the service beginning at 11:00 am. Following the service, lunch will be provided in the Fellowship Hall. The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in-person. Memorials in honor of Lee may be made to:

A bright light left this world much too soon. We love you, Lee!
