Ridge, William Greenwald age 92, of Oak Grove, MN, passed away peacefully on July 29 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 3rd at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale St. NW. Oak Grove, MN. Visitation prior to mass begins at 9:30 am with a luncheon to follow. Born on June 9, 1920 in Anoka MN, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. William is survived by his wife Virginia, his children Rebecca (Alex), Jon (Judi) and Aaron, grandchildren Olivia, Noah, Isaak, sister, Merrywayne Elvig, brother-in-law, Edward Mervich and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Louis and sister Gertrude. William served in WW II in the Philippines and retired as a Major after 22 years in the Army Reserve. He graduated from the University of Minnesota as a Civil engineer in 1947 with a 35-year career that included City Engineer positions in Anoka, St Cloud and Director of Engineering Operations for the City of Minneapolis. William was the founding member of the Lake George Conservation Club and a proud Eagle Scout. His passion was living at Lake George where he died looking at his beloved land.
