Obituary

Emmans, Wendell "Dennie" After a long and courageous battle with colon cancer, died at home in Andover, MN, surrounded by family on July 26, 2011, at the age of 70. Born on September 20, 1940. Preceded in death by father, Virgil; brother, Douglas; nephew, Eric; and son-in-law, Bret Severtson. Survived by loving wife of 50 years, Sarah; children, Jeffery (Mary Jo), Tracy Brandt (Dean), Jody Severtson (Tim), Ty (Kim), Jason (Shelli) and Troy (Kari); grandchildren, Nathan (Jena), Kasey (Leon), Nicholas (Jasmine), Cameron, Cody, Morgan, Parker, Noah, Avery, Savanah and (soon-to-be baby boy, Tanner- Dennie); great-grandson, Easton; step grandchildren, DJ, Jason, Joseph (Sarah) Brandt (soon-to-be baby girl); great-step granddaughter, Autumn; mother, Renata; brothers, Richard (Nanci) and Dean (Donna); mother- in-law, Mildred Gallagher; and many relatives and friends. Prominent in the banking community for over 30 years. Served as Executive Director of The Bank Holding Company Assn. for the past 17 years. Served on the ISD #15 School Board for 12 years including 8 years as Chairman. Involved in various community activities; Soderville Athletic Association, Gladiators Wrestling Club and many other local civic groups. In 2009 he was inducted as an inaugural member of the St. Francis High School Hall of Fame. A special thank you to the staff of Allina Hospice, Clinics and Hospitals for their compassion and care. Memorials preferred to The American Cancer Society or donor's choice. Funeral Service on 30 July, 2011 (11 am) at Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Creek, 19921 Nightingale St. NW. Oak Grove, MN , with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Visitation on 29 July, 2011 from 4-8 pm at Thurston- DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW., Andover.
