Walter "Sonny" Forschen, 74, of Andover, MN passed away surrounded by loved ones November 9, 2023 in North Branch, MN. Sonny was born June 21, 1949 in Milaca, MN, grew up in the Austin, MN area, and graduated from Lyle High School.  He married the light of his life Patricia Grundwalt on December 8, 1967 and a few years after moving to Minneapolis, they finally settled in Andover, MN where they raised their 3 sons.

Sonny was a hardworking man who owned several businesses in the Anoka area, notably Forschen and Peterson Roofing Company, Jackson Street Bar and Grill, Iron Works Gym and many more. His business took him to New Orleans Louisiana from 2005 to 2019, where he and Pat made many friends who became family. Sonny made friends where ever he was, and was known for his kindhearted sense of humor.  He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of LSU football, the Minnesota Vikings,  the New Orleans Saints, and the Andover Huskies, cheering on his grandchildren at their many events.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter R. Forschen and Etta Forschen; brother, Vernon Forschen; wife Pat Forschen, and son Chad Forschen.  He will be deeply missed by sons, Troy Forschen and Kipp (Jenny) Forschen; sister, Donna (Gary) Lanz; grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Owen, Lauren, Quinn, and Griffin; 3 great grandchildren, many beloved brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW, Andover, 763-767-7373 on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 1-4pm.
