Ella, Vincent Gerald "Vince" age 85 of Minneapolis, passed away on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2024. Preceded in death by parents, Vincent & Mary Ella. Vince is survived by his wife, Katherine Lucille (Lembke) Ella; children, Vincent John (Natasha) Ella, Bonnie Ella (Steven) Johnston, and Mary Katherine Ella (Andrew) Williamson; as well as nine grandchildren, Katherine McKittrick Johnston, Margaret Kinley Johnston, Jennifer Ella Johnston, Vincent Alan Ella, Allison Wright Johnston, Charles Helmuth Ella, Ella Grace Williamson, Douglas Tennyson Ella, and Elijah Eric Williamson; sisters, Judy Wilson, JoAnn (James) Nordlie and Mary Jane Beberg. Vince was born in Brookings, South Dakota and after high school served in the United States Army in San Francisco. He then graduated from the University of Minnesota where he met his future wife Katherine on the steps of the student union. After college he founded a business importing wigs from Hong Kong and Korea. He then attended law school at the University of South Dakota School of Law. After law school he served as the South Dakota Securities Commissioner. Vince later practiced securities law at various law firms in Des Moines and Minneapolis for over 30 years and helped start and finance many successful ventures. Vince was a member of the Alpha Nu chapter of Chi Psi Fraternity, Ducks Unlimited, the Shriners, the Minnesota State Bar Association, The North American Securities Administrators Association, the Aitkin Area Rotary Club, and the Nord Lake Association. In his younger days, Vince was a Golden Gloves boxer, a licensed pilot, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing for walleye and duck hunting, and he and Katherine raised and trained several hunting dogs. In their retirement, Vince and Katherine lived at their lake home on Nord Lake, near Aitkin, Minnesota. They enjoyed many wonderful trips around the country, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. When it became more difficult for Vince to travel, they enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and friends. Vince was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson Street, Anoka. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church.
