Songstad, Vernon S. age 88, of Coon Rapids. Born 12/2/1921 in Garretson, SD, went home to be with the Lord on 11/23/2010. Vern was preceded in death by loving wife, Dee; parents, Lorenza and Nels Songstad; 5 siblings; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Survived by son, Gregory; daughter, Andrea (Chuck) Philipsek; grandchildren, Jesse Songstad, Michelle Chapman, Sam and Alexandra Philipsek; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Austin and Shelby; brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Vern and Dee met and married in Sioux Falls, SD and moved to Coon Rapids in 1957 where they raised their family. Vern worked as a house painter and at Federal Cartridge for over 20 years. Vern enjoyed playing golf, trap shooting and spending time with his family and friends. Funeral service Saturday 11:00 AM at Riverdale Church, 3210 Bunker Lake Blvd. NW, Andover.
