Vernon C. Cook, age 94 of Coon Rapids, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Champlin Shores.

Vern was born on June 20, 1926 in Osseo, Minnesota, to Henry and Josephine (Bye) Cook.  After graduating from Osseo High School, he served in the Army Airforce from 1944 to 1945.  Vern graduated from Indiana Tech, Fort Wayne, Indiana, as a civil engineer.  He met his wife, Audrey "Terry" of Minneapolis, while she was visiting her aunt in Fort Wayne.  They married in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1948 and moved back to Minnesota where they raised four children.

Vern's engineering career was mainly with Honeywell for 33 years, plus he owned Cook's Hardware in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, for 5 years.  Over his lifetime, Vern enjoyed owning horses, flying his small airplane, working his property with his tractor, spending winters in Texas with Audrey, and traveling in their motorhome.  In his 90's, he enjoyed riding his scooter and electric tricycle.

In addition to his parents, Vern was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Audrey "Terry" (Standal); sisters, Dorothy and Joanne; brother, Donald.  He is survived by his children, Susan Cook (Alex Grzywacki), Charles (Kathy), Stephen, and Brian; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Henry (Elsie).

Due to health and safety concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private interment will take place.
