Obituary

Timothy Earl Trude, MD, born May 27, 1953 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, went to be with our Lord suddenly on April 17, 2024. Tim survived polio as a toddler and went on to play sports at Mahtomedi High School. He was a skilled trumpet player, winning a Midwest trumpet competition and was recruited by Juilliard. Instead, he went to Bethel College, majoring in pre-med, although he continued his musical pursuits by playing in the Bethel band, the Minnesota Orchestra when they needed additional trumpets, and The Partnership music group, which went on a mission trip to Mexico. During his time at Bethel, he also reconnected with his youngest sister's best friend Julie. They realized they had something special and married August 19, 1978, celebrating their 45th anniversary with family and friends last summer. After their kids graduated high school, they enjoyed an Alaskan cruise and a wine tour of Paso Robles, CA. On a typical evening, you could find them playing board or card games and sipping wine.

Tim's medical education began in Duluth and was completed in Minneapolis, at the University of Minnesota. His residency at Bethesda Hospital involved a large variety of work and he delivered many babies which helped later when he assisted his wife Julie in the difficult delivery of their first boy Collin! He volunteered for his sons' Boy Scouts troop, as a doctor for their sports teams, and for church music, playing trumpet and guitar. Tim was intrigued by the intricacies of creation, leading him to garden, birdwatch, read medical and astronomy publications, and serve his career as a certified family practice physician for 33 years at Champlin Medical Clinic. Tim was forced into retirement in 2017 after breaking his neck. He persevered through physical therapy and was creative with his hands when he couldn't walk, learning a new hobby of glass etching, making many gifts for family and friends. Even in retirement, he loved learning and enjoyed reading about cellular biology, Sudoku puzzles, gardening, games, sports, science fiction and learning about the newest musicians.

Survived by wife Julie of 45 years, children Laura (Joe) Egan, Collin (Jane) Trude, Brian Trude; siblings Rachel Neumann, Earlene (Rollin) Strode, Glory Fladland, Grace (John) Moe, Debi (Norm) Swanson. Preceded in death by parents Earl and Myra Trude, sister Trudy (Don) Moore, brother Terry (Bonnie) Trude, brother-in-law Paul Fladland. Celebration of life will be on Monday, April 22 at Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids, MN with visitation at 10am, funeral at 11am, and luncheon following.
