Thompson, Steven Hartley age 72 of St. Francis passed away March 22, 2024. Steve was a deeply loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He worked for Hoffman Engineering for 41 years, retiring in 2014.

While attending the Rinehart School of Taxidermy in Janesville, WI, he met his future wife, Joan Kratz. They were married in 1980 and raised their family in St. Francis, MN. Steve was an avid gardener, fisherman, outdoorsman, softball player, pet owner, and Twins fan. Steve was a loving and devoted husband and father, coaching his girls' sports teams, attending band and choir concerts, and spending time with his family. He and Joan enjoyed many road trips, traveling to visit family, camping, or checking out a garden center to find a new iris or peony for his garden. He always made sure all of his girls had what they needed. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him; his gentle spirit will continue to make a mark on the world through his loved ones.

Preceded in death by both of his parents (Wilma and Hartley Thompson) and sister (Janice Green). Survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Lindsey and Katie; sisters, Joanne (Alvin) Hartzler, Shirley (Gordon) Grant, Kathy (Lee) Tagg; and many nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.

Memorial service, Saturday, April 6 at 11 AM at St. Francis United Methodist Church, 3914 229th Ave NW, St Francis. Visitation 10 AM same day and location. Lunch to follow service. In Lieu of flowers donate to Minnesota Land Trust at mnland.org
