Brtek
April 8, 1941 – September 28, 2020
Sheryl J. Brtek, age 79 of Coon Rapids, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Sheryl was born on April 8, 1941 in Hamilton County, Iowa to Merlyn and Opal (Faulkner) Fischer. She was a long-time resident of Anoka County but was raised on a farm in Iowa with her older brother, Tommy. They were raised by their loving parents. Sheryl graduated from Eagle Grove High School and went to attend business school in Minneapolis where she met her husband, Floyd. They met in 1963 and were married on April 13, 1964. The family spent a lot of time at her parents' farm when they lived in Iowa for several years, and would always go for the Fourth of July to shoot off fireworks, celebrate her mom's birthday, and catch fireflies. The family moved back to Minnesota in 1983. After Sheryl had grandchildren, she would play board games, watch baseball, football, and TV game shows with them. She loved her family and cherished every moment with them. Sheryl enjoyed her iced tea, sewing, collection of rooster knicknacks, visits to the farm, gardening, baking, garage sales, the casino, shopping, celebrating all holidays, and she loved to walk inside the grandstand at the State Fair. She was a hard-working woman with a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Sheryl was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Brtek; grandchildren, Jamie and Joshua Hite; in-laws; special aunt, Edna Faulkner; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. She is survived by her loving husband, Floyd; children, Julie Brtek of Bloomington, Steve Brtek of Minneapolis, Christy Brtek of Fridley, Gina Fields of East Bethel, Rhonda Brtek of Buffalo, and Janet Brtek (JC Compagnon) of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Earl, Sara, Nicole, Brandon, Curtis, Jeffrey, Ashley, Ella, Jackson, Jessica, Brian, Trevor, Kevin, Crystal, Kyle, and Tyler; brother, Thomas (Sharon) Fischer; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many other loving family and friends.
