Obituary

Scott Richard Shaffer, 69, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly following a stroke in Columbia, Tennessee on February 14, 2026. 

Scott was born on February 7, 1957, in Minneapolis to George Shaffer and Pearl Thompson (née Williams). He grew up and attended school in St. Francis, Minnesota. After graduating from Anoka Technical College, Scott built a successful career as an Electrical Designer, retiring at age 66.

A devoted member of the United Church of God, Scott was steadfast in his faith and dedicated his life to the Lord. Through his church community, he formed a wide and cherished circle of friends. He was happiest when surrounded by family and loved ones.

Scott was exceptionally handy and took great pride in transforming his house into his dream home. He was always generous with his time and talents, readily helping others with their projects. An avid traveler and wine enthusiast, Scott also enjoyed baking and was well known for warmly hosting and entertaining friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Donald Thompson, and his uncles Harvey Williams, Sheldon Williams, and Desmond Davis.

Scott is lovingly remembered by his siblings Todd Shaffer, Daniel Thompson and Raina Thompson; his aunt, Patricia Williams; his nieces, Ashley Casper, Amira Castro and Jada Ebong; and his great-nieces and nephew Carley, Sydney and Lex Casper.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:00 noon, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay Street Northwest, Andover, Minnesota. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in East Bethel.
