Ruth Anne Westlund died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 79 on Friday April 19 th ,
2024 by the side of her loving husband of 59 years, Don.

Ruth was born in Grantsburg, WI at Grantsburg Hospital on May 20 th , 1944 to Raymond
and Caroline Stauter as the only sister of five loving brothers. She was educated in a
one room country school house through 6 th grade. Ruth graduated from Grantsburg
High School in 1962 and graduated from Mounds Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul,
MN in 1965. She met her future husband and love of her life, Don, at Como Park in St.
Paul in 1963 walking barefoot as he was biking around the lake.

Don and Ruth were married at Calvary Covenant Church on August 7 th , 1965. Ruth
worked 26 years at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN as a critical care registered nurse.
Ruth enjoyed camping, especially her 20 years as a campground host with Don at
Itasca State Park, reading, sewing, knitting, and travelling. She was able to travel to all
50 states and 6 continents. Ruth was a member of Oak Haven Church in Ham Lake,
MN for 54 years. Ruth bravely fought a long battle with multiple sclerosis with the help
of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the loving care of her husband Don.
Ruth is survived by Don, her children Doug Westlund (Cindy), and Becky Carlson (Phil),
her grandchildren Chloe Wooten (Blake), Nathan Westlund (Michaela), Brody Carlson,
and her great grandson Beckett Wooten.

Her funeral will be held Friday April, 26 th 2024 at Oak Haven Church, 1555 Constance
Blvd., Ham Lake, MN 55304. Visitation begins at 10am with the funeral service at 11am
followed by a light lunch at the church. Internment will be at 1pm at Morningside
Cemetery in Coon Rapids, MN.
