Obituary

Rose Ann Oman was born on September 27, 1929 in Fairmont, Minnesota; the youngest of three daughters, to Kenneth and Martha (Lober) Burgess. She was born again in the water of Holy Baptism on October 27, 1929 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 22, 1944 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fulda, Minnesota where she grew up. Rose graduated from Fulda High School in 1948 in a class of 48.  She then worked at Shorty's Café in Fulda for a short time before moving to Minneapolis where she worked as an office clerk for Farmer's Home Mutual.  Co-workers and friends Vivian and Ruth Oman introduced Rose to their brother, Vincent, who would become her husband.  After their wedding in Worthington, MN, they moved to a farm near New York Mills, Minnesota (Vincent's hometown) and then on to Anoka, where Vincent became a home builder. There they raised their family and resided for the rest of their lives. In addition to her role as wife and mother Rose was a Daycare provider, Cub Scout Den Mother and Sunday school teacher.  When Vincent became disabled from injuries, initially sustained while serving in the Army in Europe during WWII, Rose attended Anoka Technical College and got her certificate as a Nurse's Aide, working first at Crest View in Columbia Heights and then Park River Estates in Coon Rapids. Rose was an avid reader who enjoyed sewing, baking, game shows, attending church services, and traveling. Family was very important to her, she was always welcoming to visitors and enjoyed a good joke. After suffering a series of strokes in 2018, Rose became a resident at Homestead in Coon Rapids.  While there she contracted the COVID 19 virus and succumbed to it on May 4, 2020 (her mother Martha's birthday).  Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters, Viola Walker and Dorothy Paplow.  She is survived by 6 children: Robert (Connie) Oman, Sharon (Steve) Will, Michael (Carrie) Oman, Thomas Oman, Steven (Mary
Lou) Oman, and Kevin Oman; 11 grandchildren: Andrew (Cameron) Anderson; Ted (Jana) Anderson, Louisa (Michael) Odlyzko, Nate Oman, Jonathan Oman, Alex Will, Julie Oman, Jackson Oman, Joe Knox, Madison Franklin, and Matthew Oman; 5 great grandchildren: Colbie & Ellie Anderson and Luke, Elizabeth & James Odlyzko; 2 sisters-in-law: Margaret Dreyer of Chisago, MN and Pat Oman of St. Paul, MN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka on Friday September 25 at 2pm. Burial to follow at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Due to COVID 19 precautions there will be no visitation. Per State of Minnesota and CDC restrictions Social Spacing, Numbers Restrictions and Use of Masks are required.
