Ronald Maurice Hunter, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, has been a beacon of love and warmth throughout his remarkable life. Born on May 13, 1932, in the close-knit town of Marshall, Minnesota, Ronald was the beloved son of Maurice and Alice Hunter. His early years in Marshall laid the foundation for a life filled with accomplishment and service.

Ronald’s academic journey began at Marshall High School, where he graduated in 1950. He continued his studies at Mankato State University, obtaining his degree in 1954, and then pursued further education at the University of South Dakota, graduating in 1958. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to education were evident throughout his life.

In 1956, Ronald answered the call to serve his country and joined the US Army, where he spent two years serving with distinction. His military service instilled in him a sense of duty and discipline that he carried into his professional life.

Ronald found his true calling in teaching, sharing his passion for math and science with students in Germany. His career in education flourished when he returned to the United States, where he devoted 33 years to teaching chemistry at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC). Ronald's influence as a teacher extended far beyond the classroom; he inspired countless students with his enthusiasm and deep understanding of the sciences.

On August 2, 1959, Ronald married the love of his life, Joyce Harter, and together they embarked on a journey that has spanned over six decades. Their marriage has been a testament to enduring love and partnership. Ronald and Joyce were blessed with three sons, Bryce (Daidre), Brad (Myriam), and Eric (Diana), who have each carried forward their father's legacy of kindness and commitment to family.

Ronald's family blossomed further with the joy of five grandchildren and the delight of three great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Ronald had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His humor could lighten any mood, and his kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

An active member of the United Methodist Church of Anoka for 59 years, Ronald's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He also found joy in woodworking, and his handcrafted rocking horses and wooden figurines, made with love for his grandchildren, stand as a testament to his skill and creativity. Ronald and Joyce were avid walkers and belonged to the American Volksmarch Association (AVA). A great accomplishment of theirs was that they walked a 10k in each of the 87 Minnesota counties.

Ronald is proceeded in death by his parents Maurice and Alice Hunter, his sister Delores Seifert, and his brother John Hunter.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at The Homestead of Anoka, whose care and support have been invaluable. As a tribute to Ronald’s generous spirit, donations may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association, reflecting his commitment to helping others.
