IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert George
Wilbur
June 14, 1947 – May 24, 2024
Wilbur, Robert "Bob" G. age 76 of Coon Rapids, passed away on May 24, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids with his family by his side.
Additionally, many of Bob's close friends were by his side at the time of his passing. Despite battling many extreme health challenges, the last years of his life, he faced his challenges with dignity, courage and without complaint. Born in Detroit Lakes MN, Bob was raised by his mother Hazel and stepfather Herman as his father Clarence passed when he was a young boy. The farm in Perham, MN is where Robert learned a work ethic that endeared many to him as he moved to the Twin Cities area as a young adult. A family member introduced him to Renee Wargin and she captured his heart. They married in 1968 and had two sons, Shawn & Chad. They made the family home in Brooklyn Center, later Renee and Bob eventually moved to Coon Rapids.
Bob took pride assisting many home buyers as a mortgage banker seeking the best rates and programs. Bob was always eager to put his customers' needs first and many in that industry called on him first. Bob loved to travel whether it be by car, plane, boat or train. He prioritized family and friends taking trips and loved the chauffer role. Bob loved the wildlife in his backyard off the lake in Coon Rapids, especially bird watching. He was a very independent man, often tackling things his way even as his body was not as strong in his later years. Often smiling when reminded of this fact by those who loved and cared for him. Above all, he loved Renee, who lovingly cared for him during his failing health. His face would light up when the conversation included his sons and grandchildren; they were his pride and joy in life.
Bob is survived by his wife Renee of nearly 56 years, sons, Shawn (Stacy); Chad; grandchildren Caitlyn, Alissa Minkler (Noah), Aleia, Kyle, Charlie; sister Marie Brekken (Vince) Crookston, MN; aunt Pearl Tjoelker, Roseburg, OR Bob is preceded in death by his father, Clarence; mother Hazel; stepfather Herman Enslin; nephew, Travis Brekken.
