Akers, Robert L. "Bob" age 69, of Andover, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Bob was born October 26, 1951 on his mother's birthday in Moorhead, Minnesota. He graduated from Moorhead Campus School in 1969 and after earning his college degree in Accounting he moved to the Boston area for several years. He returned to settle in Minneapolis with the love of his life Jennifer and welcomed sons Zachary Barnett (May 1990) and Spencer Jamison (November 1991). Bob worked for Muska Lighting for many years until his retirement. Bob and Jen had celebrated 30 years of marriage shortly before her passing. Bob loved to watch his boys play sports, play in the band and take them on trips. He inherited his father's wit and love of practical jokes. He was a prankster and the king of shenanigans. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer; parents, Robert and Darleen Akers and mother-in-law, Audrey Smith. Bob is survived by sons, Zachary and Spencer (Kayla) Akers; sisters, Marcia (Steve) Sjulstad and Jayne Aukland; sisters-in-law, Petra (Ben) Anderson and Shawna (Chris) Fiore; brother-in-law, Lyndon (Vickie) Smith; father-in-law, Richard Smith; many nieces and nephews as well as his faithful companions, Diesel, Memphis and Hemi that brought him so much comfort. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the Allina Home Health and Hospice and Mercy Hospital for the dedicated care they gave to Bob. Memorial Services Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka. Private interment. Visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the Anoka American Legion, Post 102, Anoka.
