Luther, Robert A. "Bob" Age 75 of Coon Rapids, passed away September 21, 2018. Survived by brother, LaRoy (Lila) and sister-in-law, Gretchen, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents, August and Carrie, and brother, LaVern. Robert was born on September 22, 1942 in Sibley, IA. As a native of Iowa, Luther earned the Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance and church music, as well as, a Master of Music degree in organ performance and music theory from Drake University. Bob has also done extensive study at the University of Michigan and the Eastman School of Music. His organ teachers have been Marilyn Mason and Russell Saunders. Luther has taught at Carleton College, The University of Evansville, Drake University, and Grand View College, and the University of Michigan. He has served on the executive board of the American Guild of Organist, Twin Cities Chapter. Robert served as Principal Organist from 1984 to 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church and as Principal Organist Emeritus after his retirement. Bob continued teaching and maintained his studio of organ students. His reputation has been earned in performances in the United States and Europe. We celebrate Bob's life with visitation 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 4th Avenue, Anoka. Bob preferred memorials to Zion Lutheran Church.
