Robert "Bob" J. Batsche, age 69 of Anoka, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away Tuesday February 9th, 2021. After graduating high school Bob joined the Navy where he spent most of his time stationed in Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines. After being honorably discharged, Bob worked a few odd jobs and eventually was accepted into an apprenticeship with the pipefitters. Bob retired in 2009 after working 35 years as a union pipefitter. When he wasn't working, Bob enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, fishing and being outdoors. Bob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any Minnesota hockey, football and baseball team. You could always find Bob sitting in his recliner watching a John Wayne Western, the History Channel or any Sci-fi movie or show. He often enjoyed reading a good book, especially a Tom Clancy novel. Bob loved to show off his cooking and grilling skills, if you were lucky enough to taste his infamous barbecue ribs then you know there was nothing in comparison. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Walter and mother, Catherine. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Beth; brother, David (Karen), 4 children, Jennifer (Tom) Collins, Michael, Jessica (Travis) Dahlvang, David; 5 grandchildren, Alec, Gaige, Iva, Henry and Frank and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 followed by a PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICE ONLY at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW, Andover.
