Dick was born in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Edward and Sara Larsen. He graduated from Vocational High School with a Trade diploma in Auto Mechanics. On November 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lois A. Jeanette. Soon after, they moved to Jamestown ND, where he worked as a radio announcer. When they returned to Minnesota, Dick first worked as an auto mechanic at Stephens Buick, then as a drill press operator at Onan. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and was an instructor of vehicle field recovery and repair while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After his military service, Dick returned to Onan where he held many positions over his 37-year career, retiring as Superintendent for Electronic Assembly in 1988. Dick participated in the Onan golf league, and was a member of the Onan Chorus for 25 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts, church activities, and enjoyed snowmobiling with a friends and family group called "Fagarway". In their retirement years, Dick and Lois sold their house, bought a beautiful motorhome, and traveled the United States. When the time came to give up traveling, they lived in Arkansas, and soon returned to Minnesota to be close to family. Dick and Lois celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this past November 1 st .
Dick was preceded in death by children, Bruce and Susan Larsen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Lois Larsen; children, James (Becky) Larsen, Thomas (Debbie) Larsen, Cheryl (Dennis) Knudtson, and Sandra Larsen (Charles Connor); 7 grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Pedersen.Memorial Service
