IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Allen
Brodersen
August 10, 1951 – August 12, 2023
Richard "Rick" Brodersen, 72, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 12, 2023 after a courageous year and a half battle with AML.
Rick was born on August 10, 1951 to Elmer and Dorothy Brodersen in Duluth, MN. He grew up in Coon Rapids, MN where he spent many memorable years with friends and family before graduating from Coon Rapids Senior High in 1970. In 1976, he met Linda, and they wed in 1978, going on to have three children, Alison, Jennah and Landon.
Rick retired as a Locomotive Engineer for BNSF Railroad where he worked for over thirty years. He was a hard worker and always put 100% into everything he did.
Rick loved and was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Rick was a loving husband and in later years enjoyed days with Linda at their cabin, fishing by day and dancing with Linda, under the stars to their favorite songs. He had many interests, ideas, and hobbies, and loved to share his skills to help with anything his loved ones needed. He loved carpentry, skiing, fishing, music and was brewing his own beer known as "Brody Brew" even before home brewing became popular. He was never afraid to try new things such as learning the guitar on his home-built Dobro or learning to sail.
Rick always had a smile on his face and an extremely positive attitude on life. He loved all kinds of music, but later in life really appreciated Folk & Bluegrass. Ever a storyteller, he loved sharing his boundless experiences in life.
Anyone who knew Rick knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy and his brother, Randy. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda, proud father of Alison (Kevin), Jennah (Eric), and Landon (Catherine), loving grandfather to Stella and Sterling.
