Obituary

Langlie, Richard "Dick" Arlyn, age 82, of Champlin, MN, died June 25, 2022.

Dick was born July 10, 1939, in Mayville, ND. He grew up on the family farm, attended a one-room schoolhouse (skipping 2nd grade) and went to Mayville High School. After graduating from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a bachelor's degree, he taught math at Central High School in Grand Forks and joined the National Guard. He attended Indiana University on a National Science Foundation Institute grant and earned a master's degree; there he met his wife Ann. They were wed in Palatine, IL on August 13th, 1966, and married for 55 years. They moved to Champlin to teach math at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park. He taught there for 32 years before retiring in 2000. He was also an adjunct math professor at the University of Minnesota. He volunteered as a boy scout leader, as a photographer for the Champlin-Dayton Press, and as a eucharistic minister at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Anoka. Dick enjoyed camping with his family at State and National Parks and traveling to Mexico and Europe. He also enjoyed reading mysteries and spending time at flea markets.

Dick was preceded in death by his Parents, Gilfred and Othelia; and sister, Darlyne Brenna.

He is survived by wife, Annamarie; son David (Nicole); daughter, Michelle (Mark); and brother, Gordon (Paula); other family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4 – 7pm on Wednesday, July 6th at Thurston-Lindberg- Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303. Mass of Christian burial at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson Street at 11am, preceded by a visitation at the church at 10am. Luncheon and internment at Calvary Cemetery following mass.
