Raymond Michael (Otley) Deveney

1/1/1940 – 4/13/2022

Ray passed away peacefully in his sleep in New Brighton, MN on April 13, 2022 at the age of 82. He dealt with dementia for a number of years. He was born Raymond Michael Otley in St Paul, MN on January 1, 1940. At a young age Ray was adopted by Edwin and Hazel Deveney. He was raised with an adopted sister, Mary, on a farm near Pine Island, MN. As a young man Ray joined the Marines. After an honorable discharge he moved to Minneapolis, MN where he eventually met his wife, Anita Eckert, at the Roller Garden in St. Louis Park. They enjoyed roller skating, dancing, riding motorcycle, attending car shows, and listening to music. Ray collected classic model cars and enjoyed building showcases to display them. Most of his career involved jobs in the sales field. His favorite job was the years that he spent working at Menards.

Ray and Anita's 52 year marriage was blessed with a daughter, Tracy and a son, Cory. They have 4 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters.

When Ray was in his 30's he met his biological siblings Tim, Dick, Marie, Aggie, June, and Barb. Over the years they enjoyed getting to know each other's families.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Hazel Deveney, sister Mary Deveney, his father-in-law Hugo Eckert, mother-in-law Lucille Eckert, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, 2 nephews and 1 niece.

Ray is survived by his wife Anita, daughter Tracy Deveney, son Cory (Jen) Deveney, granddaughters Sadie, Riley, Colby and Cooper, great granddaughters Amaya and Kimmi, nephew John, great niece Kayla, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A private service will be held with a private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
