IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Radeen "Dusty"
Rae Nordeen
July 26, 1939 – December 6, 2023
Radeen "Dusty" Rae Nordeen, age 84, of Andover, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Dusty was a woman of many skills and trades who could hold her own. She was a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a great-great-grandmother, and she wore those titles with pride.
While working at Northwest Airlines, she met Gordy, the love of her life. They got married on May 14, 1960. After that, she pursued a career as a beautician and managed her own beauty shop in the basement of their home. Along with managing her beauty shop, Dusty also assisted her husband in running an excavating company. She did everything from answering phones to jumping in the truck whenever needed.
Dusty took pride in surrounding herself with loved ones and sharing her life with them. She would talk about the beautiful flowers that grew outside her front door at the farm, the birds she would see, sewing and cooking. When she cooked, she made enough food to feed an army. Dusty was famous for her homemade chicken noodle soup and lefsa during deer hunting. Dusty no longer hunted in later years, but she loved that the hunting season brought the family together. Though, if you asked her to sit in the deer stand with you, she wouldn't hesitate to join you.
Family was always number one on Dusty's List. She and her husband, Gordy, would make time for their children and grandchildren in any way they could, sharing their love in the memories that they made. So many have walked through the doors of their home to visit and left with a full belly and a sense of family.
As much as Dusty loved her family, she also loved to make things with her sewing machine. She would create beautiful embroidered towels and lace ornaments. Dusty could piece together indestructible snowsuits and snowmobile jackets. Everything she made was well-loved by all those who received a handmade gift from her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Nordeen; parents, William and Winifred Fetzer; and grandson, Christopher Podvin.
Radeen is survived by her sister, Marlyene (Lyle) Jahn; daughters, Dawn (Don) Dailson, Denise Schullo, Doris (Michael Kelley) Nordeen, and Donna (Roger) Krugen; her grandchildren, Darrell (Leva Monet Leverenz) Podvin, Jerome (Sarah Shafranski) Podvin, Covington (Kari) Johnson, Benjamin (Kristi McLaughlin) Schullo, Jessica (Neal) Grythe, JaNita (Jeremy) Kofstad, Jacob (Kylie) Krugen, and Kendra (Mitch) Sellman; her great-grandchildren, Matthew Podvin, Eric (Sam) Podvin, Dakota (Taylor) Podvin, Cooper, Brady and Ayden Podvin, Kaitlyn and Kaylee Regel, Jaxson Grythe, Hannah, Marcus and Thomas Kofstad, Rayden and Caleb Krugen, Rhett Sellman; and great-great grandchild, Lincoln Podvin; other relatives and friends.
