Phillip Allen McLain, age 75, of St. Francis, passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2023, as his heart stopped functioning. After a day spent doing what he loved best, woodworking, and figuring, he was transported to and then pronounced dead at the hospital.

Phillip was born on Dec 3rd, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald and Juanita McLain. He obtained his B.S. in electrical engineering at Iowa State University, where he met the love of his life, Karen. They spent their time together traveling the United States in a Volkswagen van before settling in St. Francis, Minnesota. He excelled in quality control engineering for forty-three years in addition to designing and building the McLain family dome home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Juanita; and his brother, Karl.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Tania (Gregory), and Randy (Julie); as well as grandchildren, Juliana, Stephen, Mary, Joseph, Evia, and Hudson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tues. Aug. 22, 2023, at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home in Andover. The service will begin at 2pm, with a time for gathering one hour prior, and desserts to follow.
