Peter R. Gerken , age 71, of Mpls. and Park Rapids, passed away January 3, 2022. Pete had many years in civil service, first in the Air Force in the Vietnam conflict, followed by a long career in the Postal Service and tax preparation.  After retirement, he enjoyed mountain views from his condo in Mesquite, NV.  He built a network of friends everywhere he went and was always willing to help.  He was an avid reader and willing to talk to anyone on any topic.

He was preceded in death by parents (Tex and Myra) and sister Bonny.

He is survived by long-term partner Bonnie Semmler; son, Christophor (Laurie) Gerken ; grandchildren, Tim, Jonathan, and Elizabeth; sisters, Joy Listrom and Mary Spensley.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday at 10am, followed by Memorial Service at 11am at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home in Andover, MN. Interment at Ft. Snelling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to USO.
