Peggy Simons, age 71 of New Brighton, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018.

Peg, Peggy, Auntie Peg, Grandma Peg, sister, friend; she answered to many names and was able to develop deep everlasting connections with every soul she touched.  Peggy was adventurous and loved to travel and take road trips.  From her many visits to House on the Rock, her honeymoon in Algona, IA and her dream vacation in Alaska, Peggy and her true love, Bill, were most happy at their farm house in Nowthen.  Every summer she would take her granddaughters on vacation; sometimes they would get in the car and drive to where their hearts took them.  One memorable year, they camped in the fifth-wheel in the yard of that very farm house.  Peggy adored all animals; every barn cat had a name, even if it was "Lunch."  She treasured her lifelong friendship with DeeDee and enjoyed going to concerts with her kids.  She made many impressions on people; who could forget her sharp humor and wicked smile that went straight to her eyes?  Many people have described her as a "Great Lady" and she will be GREATLY missed.

In addition to her parents, Matthew and Myrtle (Olchefske) Szurek, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Simons.  She is survived by her children, Eric (Michelle) Brown and Heather (Eric) Julseth; grandchildren, Claudia Fernholz and Lilly Brown; brothers, Jim (Barb) Szurek, David (Marlaine) Szurek, Dean (Debbie) Szurek, and Don (Jeanne) Szurek; loving dog, George; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31 , 2018 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka.  Visitation one hour prior to the service (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.)  Private Interment.
