Obituary

Neumann, Paul G. age 89 of Oak Grove entered eternal salvation on May 18, 2023, as a result of pneumonia following a COVID infection. He was surrounded by his loved ones until the end. Born in Duluth MN, Paul served as a medic in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. After moving to the Minneapolis area in 1962, he spent most of his professional career at the Minneapolis Community Development Agency, where he helped improve the quality of housing for many people. He volunteered with the Knights of Columbus, PTA, and other organizations. After retiring in 1997, he brought his construction management skills to his volunteer work at church. A devoted father, he instilled in his children the value of education and a love for mathematics. He loved reading, gardening, hunting, fishing, watching football, and spending time with his grandchildren. We'll miss his many stories, especially those about his early life in a very large family. Many of those stories ended with the line, "We were poor, you know!" Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Floanne, son Scott (Mary), daughters Donna Neumann (Jeff Schneider), Paula Dietzsch, and Lisa McCallum (Tom), eight grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Nicholas and Ella (nee Ellingson), brothers George, Peter, Richard, John and sisters Junella Tarnowski, Evelyn Hyduke, Delores Zervas, and Marie Gondek. Mass of Christian Burial Friday May 26, 2023 at 11 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale Street, NW, Oak Grove with visitation beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
