Patrick A. "Chief" Carlson, age 59 of Ramsey, formerly of Anoka, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home.

Pat loved life, nature, and was kind to all he met.  He was quick to strike up a conversation, make some jokes and have a laugh with a big smile. He suffered from diabetes, which caused him to become disabled and was unable to continue the job he loved at Menards.  That wouldn't stop him though; even after different medical issues, he was always on the go, enjoying life, keeping busy and staying positive no matter the obstacle.  Pat loved to play bingo on Saturdays, golfing or just heading to a local establishment to socialize with all of his buddies.  He was a great neighbor, was always there for anyone who needed something, but it seemed what he loved the most was being known fondly as Grandpa Pat at a neighborhood daycare center.  He would bring cupcakes, donuts, and joy to the kids and they loved to see him daily.  He worked with his close friend David Luna running permits, errands, and supplies for Armor Construction Inc. and was a valuable member of the team.  Pat was a true friend to all who knew him throughout Anoka and Ramsey and will be deeply missed.

Pat was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Carlson, Sr.; mother, Eleanor Wilkie; and brother, Kevin Carlson.  He is survived by sisters, Ramona Carlson and Jennifer Yaekel; brother, Rick Michalicek; half-sisters, Julitta, Dawn, Tina, and Anita; special friends, Dave Luna, Reese Omdahl, Pam Rassett, and the daycare kids; also many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Northgate Church, 7295 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey.  Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka, and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.)  Private Interment.
