Omo-dada (Omo, Momo, Moes) GoodBoy Obanor was born in Minneapolis, MN, on January 26, 2000, and graduated from Northeast Range School in Babbitt, MN, in May 2019.

Omo loved to serve people. It was shown in his customer service at Zup’s in Babbitt, McDonald’s in Virginia and Cook, MidCities and Cintas in Minneapolis, and Burger King in Albertville. His last night on earth, he helped a lady with a ride during stormy weather, an almost empty gas tank, and no money to put gas in the tank. One of his bosses shared, “You knew it was going to be a good day at work if Omo was coming in.”

Besides helping people, he was an artist in many ways. He was writing a story, drew pictures, and created songs and poems. He also loved to craft swords out of Styrofoam board spending hours day and night to come up with the flawless creation. He thought becoming an iron worker some day would help achieve his goal of building his own forge to make the perfect sword.

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Omo passed into God’s hands at his home in Anoka. We pray he is making perfect swords to protect the heavenly hosts or carrying the perfect sword to guard heaven.

Omo is survived by his mother, Lucille DeMaris; his father, Friday Obanor; his siblings Jimi, Fred, and Dennis Obanor; Nana Hermann; Alexander-Paul Ogbeide; Delaney Kaye; and Kelvin Kuria; his maternal grandmother, Shirley DeMaris; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Omo was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, paternal grandparents, and maternal and paternal aunties.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thurston Deshaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW, Andover, MN 55304. Pastors (Charles) Mike Tifft and Peter DeMaris officiating.
