IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Muriel Evelyn
Styner Roos
April 27, 1926 – March 27, 2023
Muriel Evelyn Styner Roos was born April 27th, 1926 to Henry and Emma Christiansen in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They moved to Mound, Minnesota where she grew up and lived until she married her high school sweetheart, Glenn "Bud" Styner, and moved to Maple Plain, Minnesota. After Bud's death in 1972, she remained single until she met and married Wesley Roos. She passed away March 27th, 2023, at the age of 96, just short of her 97th birthday.
Muriel was a sweet, soft-spoken, humble soul who loved life and her family, always putting them first. She was an excellent cook and the family looked forward to all the events she hosted; Christmas Eve's, sleepovers, reunions, summer gatherings around the piano, and the circus in the backyard. She was always assigned the task of making gravy. Hers never had a lump. She was known for her lemon and almond bars, and how she loved her cheesy potatoes, potato salad, and lasagna. She taught her children and grandchildren how to make Grandma Ruth's German sauerkraut and dumplings - always a big feast.
Muriel loved to share the bounty of her flower and vegetable gardens. September was spent canning tomatoes, pickles, peaches, pears and applesauce. She was active in her church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels well into her 80s, and other organizations benefiting the community. She enjoyed her card club, craft projects, ceramics, and making scrubbies. Alas, no one else in the family learned how to make them.
Muriel was a strong woman. She lost 2 husbands and 3 children. She took comfort in sharing in the lives of her remaining daughters and their families. Each new child born was a source of joy. She was so proud of her family, always content to be near them and to simply be present. Many nieces and nephews called her their favorite aunt.
In addition to Muriel's parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Glenn Styner and Wesley Roos; daughter, Kathryn Styner-Yackel (Paul); sons, Daniel Styner, Alan (Kathy) Styner; sister, Ethel Christiansen Romano; brothers, Vernon, Oliver, and Robert Christiansen.
Muriel is survived by sister, Grace (George) Bickel; daughters, Connie (Daniel) Dussl, Laurie Hokanson, Barbara (Gregge) Johnson, Christine (Paul) Jensen; grandchildren, Derrick, Stacey, Glenn, Andrew, Tina, Kristofor, Emily, Katie, Megan, Alison, Bryan and Martin; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Benjamin, Theo, Clara, Betty, Olive, Dylan, Erik, Emma, Kristofor Jr., Tiffanee, Connor, Carter, Logan, Gavin, Millie, Madeline, Elle, Trevor, Nate, and Joseph; great-great-grandsons, Samuel and Hunter.
