Monica Lynn Gillespie, age 51 of Palmetto, Florida, formerly of Coon Rapids, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.

Monica was born April 28, 1967 at Glenwood Hills Hospital in Golden Valley, MN.  She grew up and graduated from high school in Coon Rapids, MN, then worked at the Coon Rapids library and a few other places before settling into her life-long career in the Medical Insurance field.  Monica married George Gillespie on June 14, 1991 and moved with him to Florida in 2014.  She was a kind, sweet, generous, and forgiving soul who made many friends wherever she went in life.  She had a special affinity for flowers, birds, butterflies, and fur babies. Monica was a devoted wife and most loved the time spent with family and friends. She was taken too soon and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Milton and La Donna Howe, Monica is survived by her husband, George A. Gillespie III; brothers, David (Eileen) and Brian (Michelle) Howe; sister, Michelle (Robert) Hinze; and many extended family, friends, and loved ones.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay Street NW, Andover.  Visitation one hour prior to the service (6:00 - 7:00 p.m.)  Private Interment.
