Elvig, Merrywayne (Ridge) Passed away Thursday, January 8th. Merrywayne was cherished by her children, Amy (Tim Meyer) son David; grandchil- dren Josh, Libby, Nikki and Erik, a large extended family of nieces, nephews, in-laws and very dear friends. Merrywayne was a strong, kind and respectful woman. Her feisty independence is legendary. Her smile, sense of humor and willingness to listen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A graduate of Cottey College, MO and the University of Minnesota, Merrywayne leaves a legacy of community service to her beloved City of Anoka as a Member of the Anoka Chamber of Commerce and the Housing and Redevelopment Commission. Her active community spirit led her to be a member of Walker Methodist Senior Housing Board, a 60 year member and Past President for CG Chapter of the PEO Sisterhood, Philolectian Society, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Anoka Girl Scout Board, Greenhaven Women's Golf club, Minnesota Women's Public Golf Association, American Society of Travel Agents, Minnesota Executive Women in Travel, and Church Moderator for the First Congregational Church of Anoka. Merrywayne was also an avid golfer and bridge player, but her greatest passions were her grandchildren, Lake George and her role as the "Matriarch of Anoka." Even with health challenges, Merrywayne never missed a civic meeting, swim meet, horse show or soccer game. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 24th, 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church 1923 3rd Avenue, Anoka, MN. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. Luncheon to follow at Greenhaven Golf Course, 2800 Greenhaven Road, Anoka. Memorials preferred to the First Congregational Church of Anoka, Anoka Historical Society or the Anoka Library.
