Melvin “Benny” Larson, age 90, of St. Francis, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a loving man with a remarkably tender soul.

A graduate of St. Francis High School, Mel went on to study at Dunwoody, Anoka Tech, and Anoka Ramsey Community College. He proudley served his country in the U.S. Navy and later retired from Hoffman Enclosures after 40 years of loving his job.

Later in life, Mel met Louise on a blind date, sparking a beautiful love story. They shared 20 wonderful years of marriage, and Louise feels deeply blessed for every moment of the beautiful time they had together.

Melvin was preceded in death by parents, Melvin Sr. and Lorraine (Beck) Larson; first wife, Joanne (Stoeckel) Larson; son, Bradley; and sister, Judith Goossen (Doug).

He is survived by his devoted wife, Louise; son, Jeffrey (Colleen); grandchildren, Chelsey (Ryan) and Devin; brother, Lanny (Patty); bonus daughter, Julie (Dave); and many loving bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His gentle heart and love will be deeply missed by all.

Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St. NW, Andover. Visitation 10 AM, Funeral Service 11 AM. There will be a luncheon at the funeral home followed by the Burial.
