Obituary

Jones, Maxine G. age 82, of Anoka, passed away on January 4, 2023. She was a homemaker and child care provider. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard and son, Mark. survived by son, Chad; daughter, Bethany; granddaughter, Analyce; dog and pal, Lucy.

Mom grew up in Anoka, Minnesota, the Halloween Capital of the World. She lived across from the ammunition plant. She was always worried something would blow up! Mom was the youngest of seven children, five girls and two boys.

Mom hasn't traveled in a long time, but she used to travel to Milwaukee where her grandparents lived. She also lived in Fort Smith, Arkansas for one and a half years and she loved being there.

She loved listening to music, especially gospel. She also did a lot of reading. She loved the Bible and her other favorite book is "Not My Will" by Francena H. Arnold. She also loved current events. She could always tell you what was going on and where! When her son Chad lived out of state she would always send newspaper clippings of things she thought was interesting.

Mom collected chickens and most recently stuff animals. Her favorite job was working the service counter at the pharmacy at Leed's drugstore. She also worked at Tasty Bakery in Anoka, which she enjoyed.

Mom met dad on a blind date! They went to a Christian youth program called, Youth for Christ. Dad was a minister. They married Oct. 3, 1963. Marky was born Nov. 30, 1964 and passed away Feb. 1966. Chad was born Aug. 29, 1966, then Bethany arrived March 20, 1970.

Mom has always loved music. She used to play the piano, organ and accordion. She played the piano for church for many years, and she played the accordion in the church orchestra. Mom also belonged to the Anoka County Community Concert Association.

Interesting note: Mom had no fingerprints! She fell as a child while learning to stand and used one hand to get up and then she switched hands and burnt the other hand on the pot belly stove. She could have robbed a bank and got away with it!

She loved the Lord and was an intercessor prayer warrior. If you had a need, she knew how to pray. Now she had received her reward in Heaven.
