March 22, 1968 – February 8, 2025
Matthew James Wennerlund, a devoted son, loving brother, uncle and caring friend passed away on February 8, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on March 22, 1968, Matt grew up in Anoka, Minnesota, graduating from Anoka High School.
Matt loved to learn and was a voracious reader. His education included classes at Anoka Ramsey and the University of Minnesota, before starting an early career in computers. His lifelong work was as a software developer, working at Eldermark for the last fifteen years.
Matt gave 32 years of service to Way of the Lord, working in sound and singing on the worship team for 25 years. Matt's beautiful tenor voice was a contribution to For Zion's Sake, a group that traveled to Israel and around the U.S.
A man of deep faith, Matt believed in God's healing. He trusted God and was brave to the very end, knowing that death is just a doorway into everlasting life. Matt will be missed and remembered for his kind, gentle spirit, his sense of humor and sharp wit.
Matt is survived by parents, Bill and Charlotte Wennerlund of Andover, his sisters Lea Schneider of Champlin, Carrie McDonough (Steve) of Woodbury and was a proud uncle to nine nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Zimmerman.
A memorial service with a lunch to follow for friends and family will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at Way of the Lord in Blaine, Minnesota.
Flowers or donations can be sent to Way of the Lord, Matt's home church.
