Matthew T. "Matt" Eldien, age 36 of Andover, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at home.

Matt was born on December 11, 1983 in Fridley, MN to Thomas and Kimberly (Roeller) Eldien.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree; his major being geography.  Matt grew up camping.  Being outdoors from a young age started his love for travel, nature, and earth.  Matt was a great advocate for the preservation of God's creation.  His favorite artwork, and the pictures that decorated his walls, were maps of earth.  His love of life, humorous antics, and quick wit, brought laughter to so many.  The world is a little quieter now.  We will honor Matt by remembering the laughter and love we shared.

Though Matt's life was short, he touched many and will be missed dearly.  We know that every time we are in nature, he will be walking beside us.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lynda Roeller.  He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Kimberly; brother, Daniel (Vanessa Montoya); sister, Grace; grandparents, Dennis Roeller, Donald and Helen Eldien; aunts and uncles, Deanna (Richard) Bianchi-Rossi, Krista Roeller, Doug Eldien, Karen Eldien, James (Diane) Eldien; Jason (Melissa) Eldien; cousins, Curran, Gino, Ryan, Brandon, Erin, Brandi, and Mallory; Godmother, Pamela Sprout; also many special friends.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay Street NW, Andover, followed by a private funeral service and interment.

Per CDC guidelines, social distancing and the use of masks are required.
