Mary Carolyn Youngquist of Coon Rapids, age 77, born in Ashby, MN, died 1/1/2024 from metastatic breast cancer. Survived by husband Paul; daughters Molly (Ben) and Ann Elizabeth (Jason); sister Ann Jones and 5 beloved grandchildren.

Mary was a warm, inviting woman whose joy was only matched by her curiosity and intellect. Never one to go with the flow, she chose to wonder about the world around her, writing essays and letters to the editor, some of which were published.

Her life was enriched by deep, meaningful relationships with family and friends, spending time on the water, out golfing, chatting on the deck, or sharing a meal. They not only sustained her, but infused JOY into her everyday life.

She gave her whole heart to her family, and we will all treasure memories of trips together, conversations full of love and support, never-ending games of dominoes, quirky gifts, gardening, baking, and family gatherings at the River House. As a dedicated champion of her family, Mary was always a part of the action. You would find her cheering on the sidelines, attending all the shows and concerts, and orchestrating creative projects and adventures together; she was a steady, positive (and sometimes snarky) presence in our lives.

And while we wish we had many more years with her, she was "always one to leave a party early."

Preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Rudolph.

A Memorial Service took place on Friday, January 12th at Zion Church in Anoka, MN.

In keeping with Mary's wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place in spring or summer.
