Obituary

Nolan, Mary Catherine age 68 of Ramsey.  With saddened and heavy hearts, we announce that our wife, mother, grandmother, soon to be great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary Nolan, left our world on Saturday, July 31 unexpectedly.  Mary was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 5, 1952. She graduated from Regina High School, then went to St. Mary's for nursing school. She worked at St. Mary's hospital until 1979, when she moved to Mercy Hospital. Mary's career at Mercy spanned many years, working in the Intensive Care Unit and then in the Emergency Room.  Mary eventually left the ER to work for Allina Home Health Care, Metropolitan Heart and Vascular, and Kidney Specialists of Minnesota. Ending her hands-on patient care, Mary went on to teach in the RN program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College and then the nursing program at Anoka Technical College.  Mary loved quilting and was known for her baby quilts. She was never satisfied with her quilts and probably spent more hours tearing out stitches and recreating them then she did creating the first version!  She also loved making gifts for everyone and we would all receive amazing homemade bath bombs and concoctions with her oils.  Legos had recently become one of her favorite ways to pass time and she stocked up on lego kits of all sorts-from Sesame Street to Christmas, police stations to the Flintstones, tractors to Lamborghinis.  And books…can we talk about the books? There are books here and books there, and books in between. She was good at sharing those books too, but always wanted them back!  Traveling was another thing Mary loved to do and she has traveled extensively over the years. Disney was a favorite, of course, and Mary and her husband Scott have many miles under their belts of walking Disney parks!  We can all be certain though, that one of her favorite trips was the southern back-road, Bible trivia in a small-town Alabama brewery, in trouble for touching the plane seat at Graceland trip with her daughter and granddaughter. You heard about that, right?  Mary was crazy about her grandchildren and loved all six of them so much. She recently learned she was going to be a great-grandma to a baby boy! She was at the gender reveal party and was happy to have another baby boy to make quilts for and spoil!  In addition to a great loving family, Mary was blessed with great, loving friends. Her friendships were long-lasting, supportive, and special.  Please join us to celebrate Mary's amazing life Saturday, August 7. She is preceded in death by parents, Duane & Mary Kracht; sister, Connie Bendy; brother, David Kracht; infant son, Nathan; and grandson, Dylan.  Survived by husband, Scott; daughters, Lisa (Shawn) Nasby and Michelle (Rob) Thielen; grandchildren, Briyelle (Rocco) Horvath, Morgan Nasby (Blake Tibbetts), Rylee Shoquist-Nolan, Nolan Thielen and Jaxon Thielen; future great-grandson, Baby H.; siblings, Tom (Teena) Kracht, Patty (Jim) Manion, Joanne Homan, Steve (Mary) Kracht, Laura (Chris) Finstad; many nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.  Funeral service Saturday (8/7/2021) 11:00 am at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Ave., Anoka.  Visitation 1 hour prior to service.  Arrangements entrusted to Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka, 763-421-0220
