Hays, Mary L. age 74 of Anoka passed away at Mercy Hospital on December 11, 2023. Mary was born in Anoka on August 25, 1949 to parents Robert and Margaret Durand.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward Durand and nephews, Jeff and Brian Durand. Survived by husband, Lee Hays; son Adam Hays (Angie Rafferty); daughter, Angela (Dave) Echols; sisters, Judy (Bob) Lindenfelser, Beverly McLaughlin, Laura (Stan) Winter and bother, Bill Durand.

As a teenager Mary worked at Malaman's truck farm in Andover where she met her future husband Lee. After graduating from high school, she worked at Thermo-Serv and eventually at Federal Cartridge for 30 years where she made many lifelong friends. She loved spending time at the cabin, hosting family events, cooking, playing cards and was known to yell Bingo a few times. She was a gentle soul and very generous. She will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 26th at 11am with a visitation from 10am 11am at Thurston DeShaw Funeral Home 13817 Jay Street N.W. Andover, Mn. A luncheon will follow the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please consider making a small donation to a local organization of your choosing.
