Obituary

Caswell, Marilyn M. "Toot" (Mylrea) age 91 of Bloomington, formerly of Anoka died peacefully under the care of hospice with family members by her side. She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Toot was born on July 29, 1931, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She grew up in the Saskatoon area. In 1951, she married Murray Mylrea. They moved to Rosetown, where Murray practiced medicine. They eventually moved to Minnesota, where they raised four children. For many years Toot was an active member of the Eastern Star, and as a gifted artist/painter. She fancied herself a talented cook, famous with the family for her incredible casseroles. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, especially hockey and figure skating. Toot was happiest doing things with and for her family. She was an incredible bridge and cribbage player, and she loved teaching her many good friends at her senior living home the intricacies of bridge. She loved the holidays and never missed an opportunity to share the seasons' greetings by sending gifts and holiday greeting cards, even as her vision and handwriting began to fail. She was preceded in death by her husband Murray, parents, J. Ross and Fredricka Campbell and brother, James Campbell. Toot will be forever remembered by her children, Leah Speltz; her children: Paul Speltz (Dawn), Laura Speltz (Luke Seaton), Andrea Speltz-Hickey (John Paul), and Rebecca Speltz; James Mylrea (Jane); their children, Alison Flugum (Jeff) and Nathan Mylrea (Andrea); David Mylrea (Ann); their children, Charles Mylrea (Nicole), Cathleen Januszewski (Mike), David Mylrea (Hannah); and John Mylrea (Joan); their children Joseph and Joshua; her great-grandchildren, Patrick, Quinn, Emma, Kully, Sloan, Connor, Alexi, Mira, Charlotte, Keira, and Jace. Toot will be remembered for her love of friends and family. Nothing was more important to her than her family. She was a true role model: strong, kind, loving and supportive. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 1 pm until 3 pm with a sharing of memories at 2 pm at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka. After the visitation at the funeral home, A Celebration of Life will be held at the Greenhaven Golf Course, 2800 Greenhaven Road, Anoka.
