Obituary

Wirz, Lyle A. age 88 of Anoka, stepped out of this life and into eternal life on April 5th at home, surrounded by his family, after a hard battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna Wirz & 2 brothers, Donald and Maurice. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Corrine; two sons, Dale (Cindi) and Dean; three grandchildren, Dan, Alexis and Ashley; two great-granddaughters, Celeste and Madison; and his sister, Rosemond (Alan) Bratland of St. Louis Park. After graduating from St. Francis High School, Lyle served ub tge US Army during WWII in Germany, the Philipines and Corregidor. After his discharge, he completed electrical training at Dunwoody Institute and worked for Killmer Electronics Co. in Osseo for over thirty years. Though Lyle loved baseball, fishing and trapping, his real passion was his tree farm. He raised Colorado Blue Spruce and other pines for over sixty years, trusting people to leave their money in a coffee can on the picnic table. He especially loved it when parents and grandparents would bring their kids or grandkids to buy trees at the farm. Lyle will be remembered as a man who worked hard, walked fast, smiled always, and never missed church; he was kind, compassionate, and generous to a fault. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 700 Western St. Anoka, with a visitation Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
