Lucy Augusta (Sundermeyer) Haugaard was born May 29, 1925 in Mildred, Minnesota.  She graduated from Pine River High School in 1943, then attended Normal College from 1943 through 1944, where she graduated with a teaching degree.  Lucy taught grades 1 through 12 in Ottertail County.  She also taught grades 4 through 6 in 1948-49 at the Mildred school.

On June 12, 1949, Lucy married Russell Haugaard and they made their home on the family farm in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota until 1960 when they moved to the Twin Cities.

Lucy Worked for Northrup King Seed Company from 1960 until her retirement in 1989; working her way from File Clerk to International Credit Manager.  Lucy and Russell enjoyed traveling, visiting relatives and friends, fishing, and camping.  They belonged to the Good Sam Camping Club and the Coachman Club.  Lucy was very active with choir, bible study and women's groups at the Nowthen Alliance Church.  Her personal hobbies were reading and embroidery.  After retirement, Lucy and Russell wintered in Florida and Texas.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Haugaard; sisters, Ruth Jussila, Addline Underhill, Doris Sundermeyer, and Dora Nickel; brother, Robert Sundermeyer.  She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sons, Eugene Haugaard (Jane) and Kevin Haugaard (Carla); grandsons, Chad Haugaard (Julie) and Brad Haugaard (Jami); great-granddaughters, Alexis Haugaard, Tia Haugaard, and Neveah Haugaard; great-grandson, Braxton Haugaard; sister, Elsie Gibbs; and brother, Larry Sundermeyer.
