Obituary

Linda Ann Hassman (nee Jacobson) passed away at the age of sixty-two-years-old in Champlin, Minnesota on Monday, January 3, 2022 after losing her battle with diabetes peacefully in her sleep.

Linda was born on May 28, 1959 in Defiance, Ohio to John and Dorine Jacobson. She was the third of four siblings. Her family moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota in her early childhood and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1979. After attempting nursing school, she moved to the Twin Cities with Maureen, where she began working at Faegre Drinker. She met Michael "Skip" Hassman serendipitously in an elevator and it was love at first sight. After eleven months of dating, they married on April 16, 1988 at Unity Christ Church. She worked at Faegre Drinker in Minneapolis for thirty-six years before having the great privilege of retiring early in 2021. She considered Minnesota her home and was a resident of Champlin for twenty-five years.

Linda loved to learn and enjoyed engaging in stimulating conversations. She loved to travel despite her fear of flying and was particularly enchanted with Florida. Linda loved to keep active and could be found cycling outside for hours on warm days. She was a lover of animals and could be frequently found browsing for adoptable pets despite having a home full of beloved pets. Above all, Linda cherished her family and stressed the importance of it. She adored being a mother and her greatest achievement in life was being a grandmother. She spent her months of retirement spending her days with her granddaughter on stroller rides, looking at school buses, looking for crows, and sharing her favorite music with her.

Linda is survived by Michael "Skip" Hassman, her devoted husband and life partner of thirty-five years, her children Brittany (John) Reading and Brooks Hassman, and her granddaughter Marcella Reading. She is also survived by her father, John, and her siblings Maureen Overman, Mark (Diana) Jacobson, and Elizabeth Jacobson, as well as nieces Christina (Matthew) Brun, Myranda Hinnenkamp, and Aydan Hinnenkamp and nephew Jack Hinnenkamp. Linda is also survived by her mother- and father-in-law, Darlene and Robert Hassman, and sister-in-law Tina Hinnenkamp. Linda is also survived by her beloved dogs, Libby and Bailey. She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorine.
