Leona M. Trost, age 84 of North Oaks, formerly of Anoka passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Waverly Gardens in North Oaks.

Leona was born December 30, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Paul and Gertrude (Wadarski) Schmelzer.  She graduated from Anoka High School in 1953 and went on to further her education, graduating from the St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing in 1957.  On May 10, 1958, Leona married John Trost.  Together, John and Leona raised a family and celebrated over 60 years of marriage.  In 1981, Leona graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota, having earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.  Leona enjoyed gardening, walking, and cycling, but she especially loved traveling, especially abroad to Europe, France, and Jerusalem, and to Hawaii.

In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald, Paul, and Loren; and sister, Dorothy DeShayes.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Trost; children, Peter Trost, Mary (Scott Thompson) Trost, Susan (Dan) Young, and Christopher (Carolyn) Trost; grandchildren, Atlee Thompson, Max Thompson, Alyshia (Adam) McKinnon, Quinn Doty, Johnny Kuhfahl, and Sullivan Kuhfahl; sister, Dolores Marotte; brothers, Delmar and Richard Schmelzer; best friend, Joanne Imholte; also many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson Street, Anoka.  Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.)  Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Stephen's Catholic Church.
