IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lauro Moreno
Fanucci
January 28, 1939 – October 6, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Lauro Moreno Fanucci on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born on January 28, 1939, in Ponte Buggianese, Italy, Lauro came to the United States in 1956 with his parents, Assunta and Narciso, and siblings, Cesarina and Alfiero. They arrived with nothing more than a trunk of possessions, determined to pursue the American Dream—and that they did. Together, they started Advance Terrazzo and Tile in 1960, where Lauro became the most respected and skilled terrazzo mechanic and business owner in the trade. After eight years in the United States, he traveled to Italy in 1964 with his Chevrolet Impala to ask Rita Scardigli to be his wife. On July 4th, 1964, they became husband and wife. On October 15th of 1964, Lauro and Rita arrived in Andover, Minnesota, and started their beautiful life together, having three children: Laura, Marco, and Paolo. Lauro instilled the values of family, work, and relying on each other, faith, and love.
Lauro's life was defined by his dedication to his family and his love for those around him. He encouraged his grandchildren, Roland and Sofia, to pursue their dreams, always reminding them to dream even bigger. He cherished moments with his grandchildren Nico and Mario, offering them rides on the four-wheeler, warm cuddles, and endless adventures in the garden. He loved his vegetable garden and tended to his flower gardens, and he also enjoyed hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Narciso and Assunta Fanucci, and brother-in-law Antonio Scardigli. He is survived by his children, Laura (Bruckner Johnson), Marco (Tina Woods), and Paolo (Emily); grandchildren, Roland, Sofia, Nico, and Mario; brother Alfiero (Susan); sister Cesarina; and nieces and nephews Andy, Carlo, and Luca Scardigli; Peter, John, Franco, and Marisa Fanucci.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thurston-Lindberg-DeShaw Funeral Home in Andover. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Patrick Church in Oak Grove, MN, with a viewing at 10:00 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. The burial will be held at 12:00 PM, and a dinner will follow at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels & More in Anoka County at impactservicesmn.org, with "Lauro Fanucci" noted in the memo.
