IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Eugene
Olson
February 14, 1945 – February 21, 2023
Larry Eugene Olson, 78, of Ham Lake, passed away on 2/21/2023 after contracting Covid-19. Larry was born in Duluth, MN, on February 14, 1945, to Eugene and Audrey Olson. He grew up on Lincoln St. in NE Minneapolis, where he attended Edison High School. When he was just 18 months old, both he and his father contracted Polio, and Larry spent much of his early childhood recovering from countless surgeries to restore the function of his legs and, ultimately, his ability to walk. It was in the garage on Lincoln St. where his father built the first upright Panel Saw in 1958 and, with it, what would become the family business. Larry served as President of Safety Speed Cut., where he worked with both Eugene and Audrey, as well as his wife Michele after they married in 1970 until the business sold in 1994. Larry and Michele then retired, spending winters in Mission, TX, and summers at their cabin on Big Sandy. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed annual Canadian fishing trips with friends and family. Larry was someone you never forget. He had a strong presence and a calming demeanor that made everyone around him comfortable. There was nothing he couldn't fix, and his strength and warm heart will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Olson nee Reiman, father, Eugene Olson, and brother Lanny Olson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Michele Olson nee Langpap, daughter Sarah Olson, granddaughter Morgan Kilpatrick, sister-in-law Marlys Olson, brother-in-law Tom (Barb) Langpap, as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Services for Larry will be held on Friday (3/31/2023) at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View.
