Obituary

Keller, Larry J. age 96 of Coon Rapids.  Born on September 30, 1926 to Harry and Clara Keller in small town Mentor, MN, Larry was the youngest of seven siblings. During his youth, he could be found frequenting the roller rink at Maple Lake Pavilion or daring the high dive, before going on to serve his country.

After his time in the US Army, he made his way to Minneapolis, where he met and danced the night away with Elaine Henrickson. They were wed on May 5th, 1956 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Stephen, MN. They began their life together in Minneapolis, but later moved to the suburbs of Coon Rapids, where they raised their two children, Keith and Karla.

A dedicated family man, Larry was home for the kids after school, while Elaine worked second shift. On family road trips, he would seek out campsites per the kids request with pools, where Larry would always join in on the fun.

Larry was proud to be a loyal employee of Superior Plating until he retired in 1989 after 34 years.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed road-trips to Rhode Island visiting his daughter's family, where he helped with the apple harvest and farm stand, chatted with the customers, and in true dad fashion worked on some of the fix-it projects around the house.

He and Elaine spent 21 years wintering in Texas. Their time there was packed full of socializing with friends, themed events, happy hours and lots of games. Larry returned each Spring with a multitude of stories and new games to teach the family back home.

He kept up his active lifestyle with skiing, golfing, gardening, and keeping a nice lawn. He remained an avid sports enthusiast his entire life.

In the last few years, Larry enjoyed video chatting with his grandkids and great-grandkids, celebrating 66 years of marriage with his wife, Elaine and maintaining his status as the world's greatest dishwasher.
