LaRaine J. "Tootie" Baker of Elk River, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home on July 21st, 2022.
Tootie was born to Ruby Varco (Tischart/Clary) on June 16th, 1941 in Baudette, MN. She was later adopted by her stepfather, Charles Tischart. Tootie graduated from Lake of the Woods Secondary School in 1959 and met her husband, Dorvin "Deke" Baker, who was stationed at the Air Force Base in Baudette. They married on April 28th, 1962. Deke and Tootie lived in Coon Rapids, MN for 32 years, where they raised their two daughters, Jayne and Angela. Tootie also worked as Paraprofessional for Anoka Hennepin School District 11 at Mississippi Elementary School for several years. After Deke retired in 2001, the happy couple lived in Baudette, MN and spent their winters in Wimberley, TX. In 2013, they moved to Elk River, MN, where she most recently resided. Tootie enjoyed traveling, crafting, reading and making memories with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Clary, Father-in-Law Richard Clary, brother Gary Tischart, sister Nanci Paulseth and Husband Dorvin "Deke" Baker.
Survived by daughter Jayne (Donny) Serfoss, Angela (Tony) Jarvis; grandchildren, Amber (Brian) Serfoss, Austin (Samantha) Habas, Chelsea (Aaron) Olafson, Conner (Aimee) Gagne, Sophia Jarvis, Evan Jarvis; great-grandchildren, Lilee, Brady, Willow; brother Charles (Kathy) Tishart II and their children, Lindsey and Tara, along with many other loving relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, July 29th, from 3-5 PM at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, 13817 Jay St NW, Andover, MN with a Time of Remembrance Service at 4 PM. A graveside ceremony will also take place at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette, MN at 2p on Aug 6th.
