Corporal Kody Anthony Grangaard, age 21, United States Marine, of Coon Rapids MN, died on Saturday June 15th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents Donald and Jean Grangaard, Grandfather Jesse Faggett, Aunts Robyn Grangaard, Connie (Larry) Reddig, Patricia Lathers, and cousin Manuel Crawford.  Kody is survived by his mother Kathy Grangaard, father Tony Faggett, brothers Jermaine, Victor, Tomoncie, Deion, sisters Tanisha and Tamika, Grandmother Georgia Henderson, and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and Marine Corps family members.

Kody was born and raised in Coon Rapids, MN, where he attended elementary through high school. Kody absolutely loved and excelled playing for the Coon Rapids Cardinals football team.  He earned his GED before joining the United States Marine Corps, which was a dream of Kody's to follow in his Grandpa Don's footsteps. The Marine Corps was the perfect fit for a very determined kid driven by any challenge. He was an outstanding Marine and thrived in being part of that elite team.  Kody then moved to southern California to begin his new life as a Marine. He loved every minute of it.

Some of Kody's favorite things were football, cooking and grilling, boating, fishing, riding his Indian motorcycle, and hanging out with his friends. He enjoyed being outdoors and was always ready for an adventure. Kody had a passion for fixing things and to dig into all things mechanical, a trait he inherited from his Grandpa Don. He was a young man that could light up a room with his presence and beautiful, yet mischievous, smile.  His Mom said he gave the best hugs.

Kody was an amazing soul that left a mark on so many. He will be forever loved and remembered.

Kody's celebration of life will be held Wednesday July 17th beginning with a visitation at 12 noon with the Service at 1pm at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.   Lunch will be served afterward at 2:30pm at the American Legion Edward B. Cutter Post 102, 400 W Main St, Anoka, MN 55303. Please come and join in our celebration of Kody. Wear a little red in his honor.
