Kevin David Stoinski
Age 70 of Andover. Passed away November 6, 2021.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert (Grace) Stoinski and Delphine Taratuta: One brother, Keith (Jean) Stoinski: Oldest son, Matthew Stoinski.
Fun Loving: Hard Working: Always willing to help anyone, without being asked: Generous, intelligent, loving and kind. We are blessed to have had him in our lives. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Kevin. With grateful hearts we thank God for the time we were able to share.
Born in Flint, MI: Kevin grew up in Cloquet, MN: Joined the navy when he was 17. He had no desire to be on a ship. He was trained to be a dog handler. On his 18 th birthday Kevin landed in Da Nang, Vietnam. He was given an attack dog named, Sam. Not at first, but soon they learned to trust each other. Sam would become Kevin's best friend and favorite dog. Most of the time, they guarded ammunition sites at night, sometimes they did crowd control. Kevin served one year in Vietnam. He was then transferred to Coronado, CA.
Kevin returned to Cloquet to find that his 'friends' would spit on him. Very different compared to how veterans are treated today. Kevin then moved to the cities and went to Dunwoody to learn the machinist trade. He worked as a machinist for many years before retiring.
After retiring Kevin was busier than ever, but he was happy.
Kevin Loved: His family; his friends; making people smile; God and his country; dogs; hunting; fishing; Miller Genuine Draft beer.
Kevin is survived by: His loving wife of 17 years, Brenda Stoinski: Brothers, Robert Stoinski (Betty Peterson) and Ken (Bonnie) Wolynski: Children, Kiersten (Mike) Berg, Eric Gilbertson (Rin Tohsaka), Nicole Gilbertson (Travis Voegli): Grandchildren, Paige (Chad) Price, Isaiah Berg and Gavin Bragelman: Many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to either, the Disabled American Veterans or to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Kevin's name.
